John Silva Obituary

89, an accomplished engineer, musician and luthier, died Wednesday, Aug. 22 at Beverly Hospital. He and his wife, Dorothy T. (Silva) Silva of Beverly, formerly of Peabody, would have celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary on Sept. 7, 2007. Former electrical engineer with Tru-Connector, founder of Luso-American Credit Union, mandolin player with 929-ers banjo band. In addition to his wife, Mr. Silva leaves two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard Silva and his wife Madeline of Worcester, and R. Anthony Silva and his wife JoAnn of Marblehead. He was predeceased by his eldest son, John Cruz Silva, Jr. of Ipswich. He also leaves eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Funeral arrangements by Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., PEABODY, 978-531-0472. Visiting hours Friday from 4-8 PM, funeral Saturday 9 AM at the funeral home, followed by a Mass at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 1 Margin St. in Peabody on the Peabody-Salem line. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mr. Silva's name may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
