To Sissy, Debbie, Nancy and Kelley,
It goes without saying that we are all going to miss Eddie terribly. Not only was he devoted to his family, but to his extended family as well, and for that I am forever grateful. In addition to his 'colorful' personality, Eddie was a consummate host. There was never an empty glass at his table and he made everyone feel at home. I learned so much from Eddie, and not just enough plumbing and wiring to be dangerous, but about how to live your life. He was certainly a prime example of the "Greatest Generation". I was thankful to be able to spend some additional time with him over the last few months and return the many favors that he extended to me.
The only way that I can make sense of what he went through is to think that Eddie and Jean Marie endured the ordeals that they did so that the rest of us wouldn't have to. In other words, they took one for the team ... and isn't that just like them.

Mr. O'Connor,
Sir, I didn't know you, but I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for our Country when you served in the U.S. Navy during WW II and for being a member of the Greatest Generation. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.

To Marj, Debbie, Nancy, Kelly and all the many relatives and friends of Eddie:
Barbara and I want to extend our most sincere condolences over the death of your devoted husband, beloved father, affectionate grandfather and loyal brother and friend. We were deeply saddened upon first hearing of Eddie's death but then a sense of relief to know there will be no more suffering, tears or the weeping or gnashing of teeth. As a well known TV clergyman often states, Eddie enter into "Redemptive Suffering" while here on earth for reasons we will never be able to understand. We do fervently pray, however, that he has already been met at the Gates of Paradise by an All-Loving and All-Forgiving Father who, as only He can do, has put his arms around Eddie's shoulders, given him a gentle hug and said, "Welcome into your Father's Kingdom where your many friends and relatives await you. Well done, My good and faithful servant."
We pray, too, that God will give all of you the strength and courage you need to get through this terrible ordeal.
Our love always,
