Joseph Mullin Obituary

47, passed away on August 21, 2007. He is the son of Dorothy Mullin of East Dennis and was predeceased by his father, William D. Mullin. Joe was born in Hyannis, raised in East Dennis, and a 1978 graduate of D-Y High School. As a young man, Joe began a military career starting with serving 12 years of active duty with the U.S. Coast Guard. Following the Coast Guard, he re-enlisted with the Army National Guard. Joe proudly served in Operation Iraqi Freedom with the 180th Engineer Detachment. These were Joe's proudest accomplishments, and he received numerous medals and honors during his service to our country. In 2005, he retired from military service and began to pursue his career in construction. He recently obtained his Construction Supervisor License. Joe took pride in his work and always enjoyed working with wood; from building miniature wooden boat models, building homes, to army bases in Iraq. Throughout his lifetime, Joey loved spending time at Crowes Pasture Beach in East Dennis. His family heritage there at "Camp Mullin" went back to the 1930's. Joe enjoyed many family and friend gatherings at that beautiful spot, and took pleasure in his role as "assistant bakemaster" at family clambakes. He was fascinated with lighthouses and enjoyed many hours tending to his gardens. Friends and family knew Joe as a giving, kind, and funny person. "He hunted, he fished, he was a true Cape Codder." Joseph is survived by his wife Rebecca and daughter Anna of YarmouthPort and his son David of Jericho, Vermont; his five brothers, Bill of Round Pond, ME, Tim of Edgartown, Tom of Orleans, Paul of Brewster, and Pete of Brewster. Visiting hours will be held from 5 to 7 PM on Tuesday August 28, 2007 at Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Av, SOUTH YARMOUTH. A Memorial Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, August 29, 2007 at Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connery Av, Bourne. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that gifts in Joe's memory be made to the Joseph J. Mullin Memorial Fund at any Branch of Cape Cod 5 Cents Savings Bank.

My heartfelt sympathy goes out to the wonderful Mullin family. I remember Joe as a sweet young boy (the ring bearer at my wedding to his brother Tim). Always a little shy and very kind. To his family left behind please know that he is now in a better place and will live forever in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. Janet

Joey,
You were always a great guy. I'm sure you will be sorely missed.
My condolences to your family.
It was so good to see you again when you and my cousin created a gourmet kitchen for me in my home. We talked as if years and years had not passed. Your eyes and that "kinda" shy smile will always be remembered when I think of you.
See you in Heaven

It is with deep sadness I offer my condolences to the whole mullen family. I served with joe over seas in Opperation Enduring freedom ,and in the National Gaurd. It was a great experience getting to know Joe, he was an inspiration to the service members he served with, and an inspiration to me. If there was something that needed to be done , joe was more than capable of doing it, and did it. One of the greatest moments of joe's life and probably mine , was the birth of his baby girl. just the look in his eyes as a beeming proud father at the birth of Anna his daughter was a great show of his character and of the love which he had for Rebecca. I will miss joe. Joe, when we meet again, perhaps we can start the boat you always wanted to build. "Hirshom" If there is any thing that I possibly can do within my means now or in the future, please feel free to ask it of me. Bill Hirshom.

With great sadness I offer you my deepest condolences on your loss of Joey. He was one of a pack of kids who grew up with our kids in E. Dennis and it is hard to think of him gone.
Joey was loved by the Gages and will be much missed. Please take care of yourselves and your children.
