OMG! I just heard about this yesterday! And if it weren't for my mom reading it in the paper at the library, I may never have known. I went to high school with Barbara. We met in the Youth Development Program and worked together as student interns at the Newton Police Department (aka "the Pig Pen" as we liked to call it). She actually lived with me and my family for several months, even making the move with us from Newton to Watertown in our senior year. I was sad when she left to go live with a boyfriend, she was like a sister to me and I loved having her around. She was constantly cracking me up; she had such a great sense of humor and adventure. I think the last time I saw her was in 1986 at a retirment party for the Lieutenant I worked for, and I believe I also saw her briefly one time after that at a supermarket. I wish I'd known about this sooner so I could've attended the services. I am really going to miss her. I have some pictures of her from "back in the day" if anyone from the family would like copies, just contact me. My deepest condolences to the family and other friends. Barbara was a great presence, even though she's gone, she will always be felt.
