To Professor Longus' family,
I was one of Professor Longus' students at Salem State College. I graduated from the Social Work Program in 1983.
Pharnel was a wonderfully caring, dedicated instructor, and friend to all his students. I always left his classes eager to attend the next. He will be missed dearly.
In the coming days, I pray that you look to the Almighty God for strength, peace, and comfort. He will get you through this very difficult storm. Lean on him. God will never give us more than we can bear.
His strength is perfect!
May God continue to bless you,

Dear Longus Family,
I met Pharnal as a teenager from Rockville, MD when he lived on Hawaii Ave and was a student at Howard University. Over the years, Pharnal and I managed to email on occasion to share information and thoughts on our experiences. I enjoyed every contact and was constantly aware of the important role he played in making the world a better place. I knew as a teenager he was destined for greatness and as an adult, I am thankful to have been a witness to his many accomplishments. May the legacy he left all of you give comfort in this dark hour of his passing. God bless and keep you as we join you in celebrating his life. celebration of his life.
