Gherardo "Zeke" Gherardi

Of Wellesley, 86, in an automobile accident in Texas on Sept. 6. Born in Lucca, Italy, he attended Princeton University and Columbia University School of Medicine. He served as pathologist at New England Medical Center and University of Massachusetts School of Medicine, taught at Boston University and Tufts University Schools of Medicine, was chief pathologist at Framingham Union Hospital, and served as President of the New England Society of Pathologists. His wife of 49 years, Celeste, predeceased him. He is survived by his sons, Dr. Peter Gherardi of Brookline and his partner Patrick Eleey, and Mark Gherardi and his wife Jane of Bryan, Texas; his stepchildren, Ronald Banay and his wife Alexandra of Concord, and Roberta Kelly and her husband Thomas of Wellesley; and his grandchildren, Michele and Mari Gherardi and Sophie Durre of Bryan, TX, Christina and Kimberly Kelly of Brooklyn, NY, and Sophia Banay of New York City and Rachel and Emma Banay of Concord. A Graveside Service will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery in Wellesley, on Friday, Sept. 28, 2007 at 11:00. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Joseph Education System, 600 S.
