Jose Marques Traquina

Age 87, passed away on Monday, Sept. 24, 2007 at the Mercy Medical Center in Springfield. He was born on Dec. 13, 1919 in Portugal. His parents were the late Valariano and Emilia Maria (Santos) Traquina. He was a communicant of Holy Name of Jesus Church. He worked as a tire maker for Uniroyal for 36 years before he retired in 1980. He was a member and past president of the Chicopee Portuguese American Club and has served in the Portuguese Calvary. He leaves his loving wife of 63 years Engracia (Nogueira) Traquina of Chicopee, two sons Perry and his wife Robin Traquina of Wayland and Nelson Traquina of Lisbon Portugal; his daughter Dr. Diana Traquina and her husband Dr. Bernard Vasseur of Princeton NJ; one brother Joaquim Traquina of Indian Harbor Beach FL; one sister Demilia Rodrigues of Chicopee and seven grandchildren, Christopher, Timothy, Matthew and Philip Vasseur and Meredith, Katherine and Jonathan Traquina. A funeral service will be held on Friday Sept. 28, 2007 at 9:00 AM from the Grise Funeral Home, 280 Springfield St, CHICOPEE MA, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Name of Jesus Church at 10:00 AM. Burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday Sept. 27, 2007 from 4:00 - 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
