Hello,
We realize that we are very late to express our deepest condolences, but we wanted to let your family and friends know that we will be sending Care Packages to deployed troops this month and several of these will be dedicated to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo and hometown of Ciara M. Durkin US Army Corporal.
We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community, their families and friends and others who support our mission.
We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.

This was my neighbor when I was just a little girl.. my father Henry was great friends with her and I was only 7 years old when our dear friend passed away.. I thought about her everyday for years.. no photos.. no Facebook.. nothing. Now I finally found her photos and her whole life and I am so sad to see how it all happened. I miss this woman very much.. she used to hug me and let me play in her yard or on her porch.. I will never forget the lovely days I had with her as a child. Rest In Peace my friend

Members of Trindle Spring Lutheran Church in Mechanicsburg, PA would like to honor your daughter’s untimely death while serving her country and memory by sending our prayers and comfort through a shawl which we will mail to you. To the family and parents of Ciara, I want you to know that you are not alone in the grief you are feeling. I too know what you are going through and what you will go through in the coming weeks and months ahead. You will have many question as to why? You will have many things to get ready or go through and that should be done in time. Sometimes it just can’t be faced and that’s ok, for you will know when the time is right for you. There are no right or wrong ways to grieve, it’s an individual journey that unfortunately we now have to take. I ask that God give the comfort, strength and courage that you are going to need. When and if the time is right for you please contact me. You can cry, vent, or just talk as only another person who has been where you are can really know what you are going through. May God continue to be with you and heal you.

I can't even find the words...I lost my 19 year old son--5 Sept 2007, Balad, Iraq. I am absolutely devastated and I know that you are too...but find comfort in the fact that we will see our loved ones, our heroes again. Do I wish that I could trade places with my son? There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

I worked with Ciara at Fenway Community Health from 2000 to 2003,
she was a very sweet and genuine person. When my Mother was dying in 2002, she taught me the Lord`s Prayer in Gaelic so I could say it at my Mother`s funeral.

Ciara, I knew her when she lived in Ireland.I used to stay with my cousins "The Cloherty's" during the summer and Ciara was a cousin of theirs on their Fathers side.(Im related to their mother.) When Ciara and Pearce came to play we had such fun,going from house to house.We had such fun great times in her house.Angela -Ciaras Mom used to let us all roam around the house at all times,we were fed and watered too.Ciara was such a gentle person, would never hurt a fly and had a cute little smile.I believe that she will be a great friend in heaven. Ciara was a dear friend. She lived in the apartment above me my senior year of college. I spent so much time in her apartment and have such wonderful memories of wonderful conversations, movies and trips. Sadly I moved to New York and, as often happens, we grew apart. I did not know Ciara personally, but I had met her one time with Haidee. I could tell just from those few moments what an amazing woman she was.. how she gave and gave and gave until everyone was happy. My heart goes out to the entire family and to Haidee- I will be here if you ever need me.

she was a sweetheart; i knew her from both of us working @ an assisted living facility in JP. i remember one time i was real busy (i'm a nurse) & hadn't eaten, & she insisted i eat her leftover chinese food in the staff room fridge.we never got to go out for a guinness but i wish we had! it's sad to see her gone so early in her journey.i recommend the book " ninety minutes in heaven", it helped me a lot after my mom died...i will be praying for all of you; love, edmund

I played soccer with Ciara at Fontbonne. When I read in The Fontbonne Newsletter that Ciara was serving in the War, I was so moved and impressed by her strength and determination. I knew Ciara when she was young when she was a patient at Harvard in Quincy. Great kid and no doubt turned into a great person. Family was so loving and supportive of eachother, and I can still see her smiling face. Thank you Ciara for serving to protect us..may you rest in peace, sweetie.

I would like to express my deepest sympathies to all of you during this difficult time. I am also a FBA alumnae – although I was a class behind Ciara, I had the opportunity to interact with her frequently. I remember that she was always surrounded by a cluster of friends in the hallways or the cafeteria. It was such a shock to hear the horrible news on the television and then to realize that the war abroad is affecting us closer to home. I admire Ciara for stepping up to the plate to serve with the National Guard to help protect our freedom. She will never be forgotten.
