Irene Sizing Obituary

46, Wellesley, MA, went home to the Lord on October 2, 2007 following a long, courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Lynn, MA, graduated from the University of Massachusetts, and received her MBA from Suffolk University. Irene was employed for 22 years at Biogen-IDEC in Cambridge, MA, where her experimental work as a Scientist helped develop new drugs and medications that enhance and lengthen lives. Besides life itself, Irene loved her 3 girls and John, going to the cottage, sharing a laugh at the campfire, and watching the sun and moon rise and set over the lake. She was an avid athlete who loved running and took great pride in her extraordinary fitness. She is survived by husband, John, 46, a 1984 graduate of Boston University, daughters, Nicki, 11; Jacqueline, 8; Jessica, 6; mother and father Mimi and Anthony Dougas; brothers Arthur and Peter; and sister Ellie Botta. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Irene's life at the Basilica of Our Lady of Perpetual Help at 10 am on Saturday, October 6. The Reverend, Theodore C. Sizing, will celebrate the Mass. The Basilica is located at 1545 Tremont Street, Boston, MA 02120, 617-445-2600. A short reception will follow. John and his daughters will receive guests for food and drink at their home at 2:00 p.m. The Sizing residence is located at 3 Bobolink Road, Wellesley, MA 02481. Call 781-772-1119 for information. Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, 44 Binney Street, Boston, MA 02115, in the name of Irene Sizing.

My deepest condolences to your family and friends. Irene and I celebrated our 20th year at Biogen together a couple years ago. Although we did not work closely together, I always admired her energy, commitment, and positive view of life. She will be greatly missed.
