Dear Cindy; Tim and Mary:

Words can’t express the loss we all feel losing Uncle. I spent some time these past few nights thinking about all the wonderful memories and times we have shared with Uncle Richard and the rest of the O’Leary clan. The time that came to mind the most was how our Parent’s let Uncle Richard watch all of us in the pool at various family functions. He would drink his Nickerbocker or Schlitz beer and watch us for most of the day. We were never checked on by the others. One of us did eventually fall off the side of the pool and we all looked to Uncle for help. He stated and I quote – “I don’t know how to swim one stroke kids -you are on your own - I just look good and official up here on this deck - you might want to throw them a raft”.

He was continually Cindy and my savior. One story was Uncle taking Grampa O’Leary’s ancient rickety wooden ladder and rescuing the two of us from Granny’s second floor bathroom window when we jammed the door lock to sneak a smoke.

He also spent countless hours waiting by the front door on Saturday nights to unlock it for us when we were way past our curfew. That way he knew we would not suffer the wrath of Auntie Mary in the morning. Then he would sneak us to our bedroom closing the door ever so quietly and telling us if we knew what was good for us we would not make a peep. He would then chuckle and say he loves his wild indian girls and shut the door.

Uncle you were a wonderful Husband; Father; PaPa and Uncle. Each of us is blessed to have had you in our lives.

God bless Uncle and we will miss you dearly. Love, Lau and Matt

Cindy,
Sorry to hear about Mr. B. You know how much he meant to me and I will never forget all the times we had playing catch in the yard. He didn’t have to take the time to play catch with the kid next store, but he always did.
