Thaxter Polk Obituary

Of Hanover, Oct 25, age 70, at home. Beloved husband of Janice K. (Krysto) Polk. Father of David Polk and his wife Diane of Hanover and Amy Polk of Hanover and her fiance Chris Scoppettuolo. Grandfather of Adam Polk. Step grandfather of Ryan Dern. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws. Ted was a resident of Hanover for the past 31 years. He retired from a Rhode Island Insurance Company as an insurance underwriter. He was also a 30 year Retired Army Master Sergeant. A graduate of Belmont High School and Boston University. He also attended Harvard University. Funeral from the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean St (Rte 139) MARSHFIELD, Tuesday at 8 AM followed by a Funeral Mass in St Mary of The Sacred Heart Church, 392 Hanover St (Rte 139) Hanover at 9 AM. Visiting hours Monday 4:00 to 8:00 PM. Interment will follow the Funeral Mass at 12:30 in the Mass National Cemetery, Bourne, MA. Contributions in Thaxter's memory may be made to the American Lung Association of Massachusetts, 460 Totten Pond Rd, Suite 400, Waltham, MA 02451. I was a neighbor of Thaxter in Cranston, RI back in the 1940 s and 50 s. I haven't seen him in years although my brother Elmer (Army) would keep me up to date once in awhile. I was so sorry to hear of his death. Please know you are in my thoughts and I hope you will be comforted by all of your wonderful memories. Paula

Dear Janice, David and Amy,

We've never met; however, I knew and worked with Ted 40+ yrs. ago when he and I were underwriters at The Employers' Surplus Lines Ins. Co., part of The Employers' Group. He was an enthusiastic, energetic, caring,likeable, sincere person and our brokers and fellow associates very much enjoyed working with him.

I was sorry to read of Ted's death. As you know he was more than someone who I worked with at IETM. He was a good friend. I am sure if my Father and Brother Tom were a alive they would ehco what I have said about Ted.
