I knew Courtney from 3rd grade through high school. He always impressed me as someone who was well centered and worked diligently, qualities I did not quite share. We were not friends, but I was sad to hear of his passing.

My best friend Yvonne,
It's hard to believe that a year has gone by already. Courtney will always be in our hearts forever. He was so full of Life and Laughter. He touched so many people in his life. You were his rock and he truly loved you so very much. He was loved by all who met him. Always remember he may be gone but his spirit still lives in all who knew him. All our love to you and the family.

I was saddened to learn of Courtney’s passing this evening. I wish I could have attended his service. As a high school teammate he provided a great attitude, a hearty laugh and always an encouraging word. A trait that he obviously received from his father, who was always there, to help all of us young kids improve on the athletic field.

He’ll certainly be missed and the bond that we developed as teammates will never be broken. He'll be in my thoughts and prayers.

I am so sorry for your loss-Courtney and I just reconnected at the reunion after many years after growing up together, grade school,jr and high school. He was so comforting when I lost my husband last year and I know you have the support of his family and friends, you are not alone. He will be genuinely missed. You are all in my thoughts.

First time I met Courtney was in the kitchen of the old homestead. He was sitting at the kitchen table with his arms crossed and resting on his generous belly. Tammy (Daryll's wife) introduced me, to which he responded in his most "gentlemanly" way, rocked his way out of his chair , stood up and shook my hand and said "nice to meet you Mame". I thought for a moment and said "what Mame, my name is Linda. He looked at me, now a lot less anxious, and said "whew, I get so nervous when I think I'm suppose to be formal. We chatted a while and I immediately was caught up in this man's huge spirit for life. His laugh was contagious, his presence was immense, and I believe him to be a decent gentle Man. My life is richer because we shared a few times together. To Yvonne and kids, to the West sisters and brothers, Daryll, I am sorry for your lose. I hope the memory of his laughter and love of everything that made Courtney happy, help you through his transition of this life.

Love to Daryll, Tammy, Desiree, Latish , Yvonne and children, the West family sisters and brothers.

Death is nothing at all,
I have only slipped away into the next room.
Whatever we were to each that we are still.
Call me by my old familiar name.
Speak to me in the easy way which you always used.
Laugh as we always laughed
at the little jokes we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me. Pray for me.
Let my name be the household word it always was.
Let it be spoken without effort.
Life means all that it ever meant.
It is the same as it ever was;
there is absolutely unbroken continuity.
Why should I be out of your mind
because I am out of your sight?
I am but waiting for you, for an interval,
somewhere very near just around the corner...
All is well. Nothing is past, nothing is lost.

One brief moment and all will be as it was before,
only better, infinitely happier
and forever we will be one together.

My thoughts, prayers, and condolences are with all of you.

To Courtney: Your welcoming smile, generous heart and hearty laugh will be greatly missed. There was never a dull moment when you were around and it brings fond memories of my junior high and high school days. The Class of 1970 suffers a great loss.

To the West Families: Condolences on the loss of a father, son and brother. He was a great man who left an imprint on anybody he touched. We will keep you in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

My earliest memory of meeting Courtney was at a 'Scott' party and I was wondering why this man was so happy and always smiling. During the last 20 years I (we) had the privilege and pleasure to know and experience his laughter, humor, and great charma that he exemplified at each gathering. His laughter was contagious and often he was the center of the joke. His warmth and love will go on in our hearts and little things will continue to remind me of him then a smile will evolve knowing that I (we) knew such an incredible man.

Our condolences to Yvonne, Nicole, Robert, Dashawn, Jaden, his family, and friends.

Courtney, I know you'll make God laugh !!

Love, Mally, Sean Jr, Angelina Scott
