Richard K. Taylor

Of Bellingham formerly of South Boston Nov. 15. Beloved husband of Janet (Saia) Taylor. Father of Richard Jr. of Franklin and Katherine A. Taylor of Bellingham. Son of Sarah (MacIntyre) Taylor of Quincy and the late George Taylor. Brother of John of West Roxbury, Paul of Danvers, George of Tacoma Wa. Elizabeth of Quincy and Sarah Taylor of Lakeland Fla. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home 3 Barber St. Medway Tuesday at 9:00 followed by a funeral mass in St.Brendans Church at 10:00. Relatives and friends invited calling hours Monday 7-9. Interment Mass National Cemetery Bourne at 12:45. Richard grew up in Roxbury and South Boston and had lived in Bellingham since 1983. He had been a mail handler at the South Station Postal Center for over 20 years. He was a former corrections officer at MCI Walpole. Mr. Taylor proudly served in the Army during the Viet Nam War attaining the rank of Sgt. He was a paratrooper in the 101st Airborne and later in the 19th Special Forces. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Parachute Badge, Viet Nam Campaign Medal, Viet Nam Service Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, Air Medal and Army Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster. Taylor was a member of the 972 Military Police Massachusetts National Guard. He was past president of the International Society of the 173rd Airborne Brigade Chapter IX-N.E. Chapter.
