Paula Phelan Obituary

In Revere on Sunday, Nov. 18, 2007 (on her 52nd birthday), following a lengthy & stoic struggle with cancer. Beloved daughter of the late Wilfred C. "Brother" Phelan & Kathleen L. "Kay" (Zolla) Phelan, who passed on Sept. 13, 2007. Cherished sister of Patricia A. Schroeder & husband Francis B. Schroeder, Jr. of Revere & Pamela A. Sullivan & husband John F. of West Roxbury. Devoted aunt of Francis B. Schroeder III of Atlanta, GA, Kathleen E. Schroeder of Revere & Jacqueline P. Sullivan of West Roxbury. Dear niece of Eleanor F. Phelan & Priscilla Hammond both of Revere, Marjorie Carr of Salem & the late Patricia Cataldo, James V. & Lee P. Zolla. Also lovingly survived by many cousins. The family publicly acknowledge with gratitude Paula's friends & colleagues at the Div. of Industrial Accident Board, especially Dawn Connaughton, Debra Nelson, Debra O'Toole, Rose Pannese & Linda Williams, for their extraordinary generosity of time & caring during Paula's long journey. Further the family applaud the medical expertise & beneficence of spirit, bestowed upon Paula by Dr. Curtis Bowman & Dr. N. Khatoon of Stoneham, as well as the staff at Brigham & Women's Hospital of Boston & Dana Farber Cancer Institute, especially, Dr. David Jackman, Margaret McMullin, N.P. & Margaret Lance, RN. Finally to the entire staff & administration at Epoch Senior Healthcare of Melrose & the Hallmark Hospice, particularly Joyce Klosiewicz, RN, for their intense devotion to Paula's care & comfort. Family & friends are invited to attend the Funeral from the Vertuccio Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Rt. 107) REVERE, Wed., Nov. 21 at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass in the Immaculate Conception Church, Revere at 10:30 a.m. Visiting hours are Tues. only 5-9 p.m. Parking available in the lot left of the funeral home. Interment in Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Childrens' Hospital, PO Box 414421, Boston, MA 02241-4421.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the family. Two great losses in such a short time are hard to bear, but we must remember that they are no longer suffering. Paula was such a sensitive, caring person and will be greatly missed. My sincere condolences.

I was sorry to hear of Paula's passing. I knew Paula through her work at the DIA. She was truly a lovely person. My sincere condolences to her family. I know that you have wonderful memories to help you through the next months.
