Richie-Its been a year since you were born into everlasting lfe with Jesus. He has efolded you in his arms loving you because you were a special person. Despite the cross you had to bear you survived and became a loving brother, husband, father and friend. There are so many things in my heart I wanted to say to you but you left too soon. Even though we didn't see each other much through te years, I loved you with all my heart, Iwas talking to you in church today and offered the host and prayers to you.. I hope you could hear me. May you rest in peace and may the perpectual light shine upon you. Love your sister Joanie

Richie;
You and I were part of a unique group of kids in the South End of Boston. We went to the same church, (We even conducted a Sunday service. Who would've believed it???)hehheheh
You were to me like a brother;and I miss you already, brother.
Mickey Kane, Ivan Lee, Denny Wall, Chris & Faith Adams Marti Hunt,Dennis Hunt George Kanelos,and more names than can fit here...all part of that group called The YPF of Church of the Good Shepherd in Boston's South End. We had some great times...and FUNNY times.I'll always remember those times and can still here your voice saying, in your inimitable fashion "DEFINITELY!!!"
I love you Rich...and always will.
Until we meet again!
Cyndy

Dear Family,

Today, December 7, 2008, I learned that Richie succumbed to complications from his recent surgery. I am writing to express my deepest sympathy, and to let you know that Richie indirectly touched my life in a positive fashion. My name is John Biancardi, you know me as Johnny, Joan Ruggiero's cousin / nephew. I was raised in East Boston, and have lived in California since 1972.

I had childhood struggles, and began life disadvantaged. Richie, Joanie, and Charlie have always been inspirational to me as examples of how the better side of our nature can prevail when challenged by childhood adversity. I have some brief but fond memories of Richie from my boyhood. Later in life I had the privilege of sharing some time with him as an adult. He was as I had remembered, a kind, gracious, intelligent, and loving man who desired the best for those he loved. He was very happy for me and how my life had turned out - as I was for him. It seems to me that when genuinely kind and caring people like Richie leave us - the world becomes a lesser place. My personal belief is that you will be together again, which means that I will see him again someday, too. For now, you have each other, and although your hearts are breaking, your love for each other will sustain you.

For what it is worth, you always have a friend and extended family in California.

Respectfully,
Johnny

Uncle Richie,
I will always remember the long talks and laughs outside on grandma's porch at Christmas. You'll be missed more than you will ever know. You were one of the few in this family that I felt I could relate to. I'll never forget your great advice. Expecially, "Men Lie!"
Love,
Amanda

I was not privileged to know Richie and his family but for the past 7 or so years. He was a fine man and a wonderful husband and father. Richie, I and other friends shared many Wednesday late afternoons and early evenings in grand conversation, solving the problems of the world and of the individuals gathered, joking and laughing often, and watching Boston sport teams on television. I never came into Richie's presence without departing thankful I saw him, for he always lifted my spirits no matter my mood. I greatly miss my friend, and so do many others who gathered with us. My heart felt sympathy is extended to Ann, Jessica, Stephanie, Katherine and the family.
