When my mother became part of Bob's Winter Haven, FL group by marrying Allan Ling, she became a part of a caring family. Even after she moved to a park a few miles from Bob's and experienced more than one summer of frightening weather, Bob watched out for her and kept us informed through e-mails and phone calls. Bob's love of technology brought us peace of mind when he used his cell phone to communicate with his family when my mom, Bob, and many other area residents stayed in the nearby hurrricane shelter three times during the stormy summer of 2004. Happily, Bob recalled those trying times as "similar to camping." My mother often repeated Bob's stories of his children's and grandchildren's families all working together to raise their children and remodel their homes. The world is a better place because of Bob and his family.

We were so sorry to hear about the loss of our dear Bob. We have so many wonderful memories of visiting Mom and being entertained by her "boy friend." Like my Dad, he didn't say much but when he did, it was worth hearing. He also impressed us by the way he looked after Mom when she began to lose her abilities. We remember the Sunday when she went to church and stopped to pick up breakfast for us on the way home. Bob called at least three times to see if she was home yet. We had to keep assuring him that we knew why she was late, and she was okay. What a sweet guy. We know he will rest in peace.
All our love, Marie (Ling) and Doug McDougal
