I knew Al for 39 years, since we were graduate students at the University of Georgia. He was a true Renaissance Man with an incredible breadth of knowledge, able to converse on just about any topic. As one of his old friends, I will miss him.

I had the occasion to meet albert a few times through our french conversation groups. A big man with a soft heart. He will be missed. it was such a sad news to learn he passed away.
