Walter A. Guzowski

GUZOWSKI - Walter A. Born december 4, 1939, Buffalo, New York, passed away September 17, 2008. He began his career in the pipe organ world with the Schlicker Organ Company of Buffalo while still in high school. He enjoyed telling the story of how he fell into the organ business. Except for two years sent in the U.S. Army, he worked there becoming the head voicer and tonal finisher. he was involved with many of the notable organs Schickler built including the large instrument at First Congregational Church, Los Angeles. In 1979 he moved to Ft. Lauderdale and began his organ service business. This became Guzowski & Steppe, Organbuilders, Inc. when incorporated in 1983 with associates John A. Steppe and Christopher B. Kane. he is survived by his sister Margaret, her husband Walter, cousins and many friends made over the years. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held this Saturday, September 20, 2008 at 11:30 AM at St. Anthonys Catholic Church, 901 NE 2nd Street, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Interment to be held in Buffalo, N.Y. at the familys convenience. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the charity of your choice.
