I first met Al in 1976 when he helped me buy my first horse. Al was a great guy and we had a lot of good times together. We grew apart over the years but I never forgot how much he helped me many years ago. He was a great person and a great horseman. He will be missed by all.

From the time that I was a small child I have many memories of times I spent with my cousin Al. When I was around 9 years old Al took me to the race track for the very first time and my love for horses really began. I will always remember all the fun times we had over the years at the track and all the beautiful horses, my favorite was Battle Fuse. Al knew how much I loved that horse, he even let me warm him up at night under the lights in his colors, that was a very special thing for me to be able to do. We would often laugh and talk about the fun times we had.
When Al got out of horses and met Judy, my husband Daryl and I would often go to Colden Lakes to visit and we just loved the beautiful hills and scenery in Colden. Six years ago we ended up moving to Colden and Al was always there to lend a helping hand, plowing the driveway, when our snow plow broke down and pulling our snowmobiles out of a swamp when Daryl took a wrong turn...... He was always there to help out when he could. Daryl and Al developed a great friendship, especailly their exchanging of e-mails! Judy and Al also gave our son Brandon a job when he was only 14 and he worked at the Lakes for 4 years. I know Al helped Brandon adjust to life in Colden and I am grateful for that.
My heart goes out to you Judy, Thank-You for making Al happy these past 18 or so years and I Know you will miss him.
Jill and Lisa, your dad loved you two girls and I know how much you will miss him. Jessie was the light of his life and I am so sad that Al will not be here to watch Jessie grow up. I like to think he will be his guardian Angel looking down over him.
Al was a guy with a heart of gold and I know Colden will not ever be the same without him.
I love You Al, my heart is broken right now and I will miss you but someday we will meet again!
Love, Your Cousin ,
Jackie

I am so very sad to hear of Al's passing. Jill and Lisa you were just little girls when we knew your dad. Joe and he raced horses together and we had so many great times and laughs with Al. I have been in touch with him through emails. I know he and Joe are together racing horses and talking over good times. My best to you both. Judy time heals as they say but you never forget all the great times and memories. You both built a great place at Colden Lakes. My love and deepest sympathy to all.

As we travel down the road of life, we pass many a person, some we get to know and others are just a passing of souls, Al was someone we got to know thru Colden Lakes. He was a helpful, generous man who always took a few minutes to say Hello or do you need some help. He was always visable and usually could be found easily except when he was on his boat. He talked about his grandson with love, caring and especially joy. He would relate his stories about horseracing and his love for horses. He would mention how he enjoyed fishing and hunting with Judy and he looked forward to doing the same with his grandson. He will be missed by alot of people but a part of him will always be with Colden Lakes Resort and the people who had the pleasure to be around him . May God watch over and help his daughters, stepson, grandson and Judy remember only the wonderful times and see them thru this difficult time . He is with God, because of whom he was.
