He was always so kind-hearted and hugged you whereever he saw you. He will be missed. I just found out today he had passed. Darcel you will never be forgotten.

To the Hunter Family,
In the summer, I came into town and Darcel ran out of the restaurant to greet me and say hi. We had not seen each other in over a year. I always marvel when I run into people and feel it is a sign. It was so great to see him and I remember telling a friend that he was always so happy and loved life. What a great man I had the pleasure to know for 10 years of my career. I am so honored to have met him.

Dear Family,
My heartfelt sympathy goes out to the entire family in your time of sorrow. May your memories confort you and your family. I was so sad to hear about Darcel’s passing, actually me and my friend are in shock. He was a true blessing to everyone that came in contact with him, including myself. He always knew how to make me smile and he always had a positive outlook on life. He often helped me at Christmas time to sponsor a family that was less fortunate and had very little. He was a good man and he will be missed.

The Buffalo community has really lost a great youth advocate as well as a very good hearted individual. I met Darcel through my employment at Mid-Erie many years ago, as he helped me with our development of the Youth Advocacy Program. Darcel was always a very dedicated and committed person. It was a pleasure to work and know him.
I was so dishearten at the news of his sudden death which caught us by surprise.

My deapest condolences are expressed to you all! I worked for Darcel for over a year (before moving to Virginia) and built a strong friendship and bond during that time that has continued for years! He always made a point to see me each time I came home to visit! Darcel touched many lives and was truly a remarkable person, his smile would light up a dark dreary room! I met Darcel many years ago when I worked for Native American Community Services, but I only really began to know him this summer, when, after seeing him around the city for years, we finally had the opportunity to talk at length. He said the nicest things about his parents, and his siblings. He talked about what mattered to him and about the letters to the editor he liked to write. That piqued my interest and I researched the letters. I was very impressed that he cared enough to publicly express his views. I was very sad to hear the news, and wish I would have had the chance to continue to know him. Even though I only reconnected with him recently, I will think of him and remember his spirit. He was very sweet to me. My sincerest sympathies to his family and close friends. I am terribly sorry for your loss.

I only knew Darcel for a short time. He was a co-worker. I met him this summer when he was transfered to the Detention Facility. I can honestly say that I never saw him upset or with a frown. He was one of the "all time good guys". I worked with Darcel for over ten years and he always had a good word for everyone. I don't know anyone who didn't like Darcel. I remember there would be spiders in the office where we worked and us girls would want him to kill it....he wouldn't, but that was Darcel...wouldn't harm a fly or a spider!
