Harry Staffone Obituary

STAFFONE - Harry G. Passed away peacefully, September 21, 2008 at the age of 90 following a brief illness. He was a resident of North Tonawanda. Mr. Staffone had a long career as a innovative design engineer with a variety of companies including Bell Aeronautical. He was proud of his involvement in the development of the space shuttle. He was stationed at Chabua and Mohanbari Airfields from 1945 to 1946 as a Armorer with the 51st Air Service Group, 59th Air Service Squadron. Airman Danny Winchester and Harry designed and built the Winchester Theater for the entertainment of the United States Military Forces stationed there. He was in the process of writing his memoirs regarding his work and wartime experiences but ceased due to failing health. He was an avid reader and writer. He was a member of good standing of the F. & A.M. Emulations Lodge No. 1002 in Cheektowaga. He was a hard worker who once tore down an entire house himself. His creative endevors and carpentry skills were much admired. Mr. Staffone was predeceased by his mother Gertrude R. Karl, Father Richard S. Staffone, Brother of Richard Staffone and loving companion of Eileen Genet. He is survived by his nephew Harry and Richard Staffone and several nieces and nephews, and close friends. Harry and Carol(Genet) Reynolds and family, Kysor, Saxton, and Reynolds, of Wayland, NY, and Barbara Kick and all the good neighbors on Williams St.
