E. Harter Obituary

HARTER - E. Dean October 3, 2008, beloved husband of 65 years to the late Josephine L. (nee Castrianno) Harter from whom the only time they were apart was during the time he spent serving his country after his enlistment in the U.S. Army Air Corps where he served as a Staff Sargeant from 1943-1945. During service to his country, he was shot down over Czechoslovakia on November 20 while enroute to a bombing mission in the oil fields of Romania, and taken Prisoner of War until the war ended. He was repatriated in May 1945, arrived back in the U.S. by June 1945, and was discharged in December of that year. Upon his return from the war, he returned to work at Bell Aerospace where he retired as a Packaging Engineer in 1982 after 41 years. Mr. Harter was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, Ex POW Group of NYS, St. Joseph University Church for over 55 years, St. Josephs Holy Name Society, Bell Aerospace Club, an avid golfer with four hole in ones to his credit, and he also enjoyed bowling. The family will be present Monday from 8:45-9:45 AM at the (Tonawanda Chapel) AMIGONE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 2600 Sheridan Drive (corner Parker Blvd.) where prayers will be offered at 9:45 AM and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM in St. Joseph University Church. Flowers gratefully declined. If so desired, donations may be made to Hospice Buffalo, Inc. Online register at www.Amigone.com
