SCHAEFER - Alan Frank Jake Long time Administrator and Coach at Amherst High School, June 14, 2008, in St. Petersburg, FL, after a brief illness, beloved husband of Edith (Tetter) Schaefer; dear father of Linda (Gordon) Dietrich of Colorado Springs, CO, Hon. John (Joyce) Schaefer of Clearwater, FL, Dr. Paul (Susan) Schaefer of Rockville, MD, Colonel Dr. Richard (Patricia) Schaefer of Rockville, MD and Karen (Timothy) Nielson of Delray Beach, FL; also survived by 12 grandchildren; brother of the late Norma Schieve and Anita Walker. No prior visitation. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Benedicts Church, Main St. at Eggert Rd., Eggertsville, Saturday, October 18 at 9 AM. Mr. Schaefer was a long time resident of Eggertsville, who relocated to Florida after his retirement. He is a member of the Amherst High School and Buffalo State Athletic Halls of Fame and a U.S. Marine Corps veteran where he received four battle stars for his service in the Pacific Theater during World War II. Flowers gratefully declined. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Benedicts Alumni, Amherst Central Alumni Foundation or The UPARC Foundation, 1501 North Belcher Rd., Suite 224, Clearwater, FL 33765. I remember Jake from family reunions. I also remember how proud my Dad (Ken Schaefer) was that I would attend the same college as he. He came to my parents 50th anniversary Mass. Both were so happy to see him again.
My sincere thoughts and prayers to the entire family.
