I was deeply saddened by the news when I heard of Joe’s passing. I was blessed to meet Joe about eight years ago and shared about a year of my life with him. He was a kind, caring, loving, and special person, one that you do not get to meet too often in your lifetime. I was so lucky to have met Joe and spend the good times that I did and still to this day have special memories to look back on. Joe always knew how to make you smile, even if you were a perfect stranger to him. Even though, only for brief moments here and there did I get the chance to meet some of his family members, I felt like had met you all, he talked so dearly about his family. My deepest sympathy goes out to his family and close friends, we lost a true friend on earth, but heaven received another angel. To Joe’s family and friends you all are in my thoughts and prayers.

I was a co-worker and friend of Joe's from a while back and just learned today of his passing. He was a wonderful person and such a loyal friend. I have so many fond memories of him. I know he will be deeply missed. I haven't seen him in a few years and am sad that I haven't but he is one of those people you think of and smile... I will miss him and my prayers and sympathy to the family. I never met any of you but he spoke of you often and I know how important his family was to him.

I spent a great deal of time thinking about what to write in this guest book. I have come to the conclusion that no words I write will do Joe justice. May God Bless the Zappia family and help them all get through this together. Although I haven't seen Joe for many years I still consider him one of my best friends. Joe has had a great impact on me and has shared many of the best years of my life with me. It seems like just yesterday that Joe called me while he was bartending at the Steer and talked me into coming in for a grilled cheese sanwich for lunch. Next thing you new it was 3:00 A.M. and you were in a shopping cart in front of your apartment. JOE ALWAYS SEEMED TO GET US HOME. I have thought of Joe everyday since he has passed and would give anything to have just one more Grilled cheese sandwich with him. So now everytime I make a grilled cheese sandwich for my kids and begin to smile it's because im thinking of Joe and all the good memories we have shared. God Bless you Joe Zappia.

Zappia Family,

Joe and I had been friends for over 10 years. I was so saddened to hear of his passing. His big smile and huge heart will be deeply missed. I wish that there were something I could do to ease your grief. Joe will be truly missed, for he was an amazing person who was loved and respected by all who knew him.

My heartfelt sympathy goes out to Joe's family. He was taken from all of us way to early...I met Joe at Tony Rome's. No matter what kind of day I had-when I stopped in and Joe was behind the bar, I always left feeling better. He had that effect on everyone who crossed his path, I think. I always called him my sweet "pigpen" buddy because more often than not-when I was there he would spill something on his shirt. It got to the point that when I walked in and he was there, he would get so nervous that he might spill something - that he always did....and we laughed. I will miss you Joe....but I know we'll share a drink or two somewhere down the line....I'll bring you a clean shirt. Love you.

October 27, 2007

My deepest sympathies to Joe's entire family...

I will always cherish the memories of Joe, his contagious smile and his never ending desire to have a good time...

I am truly honored to have Joe call me a friend...

Until we meet again...

"My Old Friend" a song by Tim McGraw will now hold special meaning for me everytime I hear it....

I have never cried and laughed at the same time as I have since I have learned of Joe's passing. Joe had a great gift of making all around him laugh. Boy did we laugh. How many people do you meet in life, that you remember the first time you ever met them in such detail that it was like yesterday,Joe we had so many great times, the biggest hurt I feel is in my head from kicking it FOR HAVING LOST TOUCH WITH YOU,I can't shed a tear for you though, cause all I do is smile when I think about you,if Sir Paul McCartney's words are right that- "And In The End The Love You Take, Is Equal To The Love You Make" than you took truckloads,to all who read this call an old friend and get together.JOE I LOVE YOU BROTHER

My Deepest Sympathies for the Zappia Family., Joe was my friend and coworker of 12 years, He’d give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. He always Appreciated my “ Old School Remixes” for I was his favorite D.J. and friend, Joe touched the lives of my girlfriend and children they too will truly miss him yet never forget him. His Smile was enough to melt the hearts of even the grumpiest of people. You’ll always remain in our hearts and minds.

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

I knew Joey a long time. He was the type of guy that even if you didn't see each other for a while, you could just pick right up where you left off. He was a lot of laughs and we always knew that each other were just a phone call away. I considered him a friend and he will be missed greatly. My deepest sympathies to the Zappia family.

My heartfelt condolences to Joe Zap's family. Although I knew Joe for only a year and a half, it seemed like a lifetime of good times with him. Going to work was not a burden when I was behind the bar with Zaps. Always a smile, a laugh & an occasional prank to keep you on your toes- that is Joe Zaps. A truly wonderful, caring man(even though he wanted you to believe that he was tough as nails), the world lost a great one in Joe. He touched my life & I will miss him profoundly.

My deepest love to the Zappia family. Zaps is someone who will largely affect the rest of my life even though I only knew him for a short time. Everyone's right, he was too good for this world we live in. He was an amazing, positive, Godly, and caring man. I will always remember his heart of gold, laugh, pranks and smile. He was greater than most people even knew. He never wanted anyone to know the nice things he would do for them. And to me, that's as genuine as it gets. I am absolutely honored to have known you. Love and miss you Josepps. See you in heaven. :)

I just found out about Joe's passing yesterday. I want to express my sincere sympathy to Joe's family. I have many great memories with Joe in our South Buffalo days. Living right next door on Richfield I recall the sleepover days and all the playing of every sport from early morning till late in the day. I saw Joe a few years back and we talked about our good times growing up together on Richfield. As we remenised we just laughed and laughed. The memories of him always smiling and being one of my best friends growing up will always remain with me.
Sincerely,
