I will always remember your fierce dedecation and professionalism while at the 409th PSC. Your constant successful completion of "impossible" tasks and assignments was an inspiration to others. I greatly appreciated your efforts which lead to many successful missions of the Unit.

Dearest Kathy, I will never forgive myself for allowing our friendship to lapse. I will always remember the times we spent together in New York. You were my best friend, my sister, my confidante, my sounding board and my advisor. I was so blessed to have you in my life, if only for a little while. We laughed together and we cried together. There were times I would not have made it through the day without you. You were there for me when Jerry divorced me, you were there when my father died and then again when my mother died. I just wish you were here with me now so I could tell you all the good things going on in my life. You were so good to me and I cannot return the favor. I was so honored to be a part of your wonderful family. To attend weddings and dinners and just hang out with all of you. I will truly miss you, my dear. You were such a beautiful person. Now you are with your Dad and Miriam. You will be in my heart forever. I love you! Myrna

My dear friend, I can not believe you are gone. It is just so hard. You are so missed. I know you are in heaven playing cards... save me a chair... can't wait until we play again. I can only find joy in that you are no longer in pain. Miss you so much!

I know your sorrow is great, please know you are all in my prayers, Lily Cook PP_Spadelady_2 from her team.

Here is a poem I wrote for her.

I MISS MY FRIEND

I remembered when I first shared my faith with you
How, you were happy for me but said it was not for you,
how your heart softened & you would ask me to pray
For friends & loved ones who needed HIS help
How not long ago, you told me you believed.

I miss the colors that you brought into my life
Your gentle voice in lonely times like now
Saying it's going to be alright
I miss the emails ya wrote me late at night
When things went wrong & ya needed someone to talk to

How ya held my hand when the scare of cancer again
Griped me in its clutches & how sad I was not to be able to
ease the pain you were going through
But am glad you are free of pain at, last

I miss my friend The one my heart and soul confided in
The one I felt the safest with
The one who knew just what to say
To make me laugh again
Let the light back in
I miss my friend
I miss my friend
I miss my friend

Miss Kathleen - I do not know why we became friends –
Maybe it was because we were both the eldest
Maybe it was because we were both Kathleen Ann
Maybe it was because we were both soldiers
And maybe it was because it was just meant to be
Whatever the reason, this is for you, my best friend

A person who I confided in and related to me like no other
I could laugh with you to no extent; you cracked me up with laughter
And touched my heart with kindness

You taught me how to golf; we went on vacation together, shopped
At Zombie TOPS, dined with our husbands at the most extravagant
breakfast diners Tonwanada had to offer, celebrated weddings, and comforted each other when each of our Father's passed.

We laughed when times were good and cried when times were tough
Never did you turn your back on me, or let me down
Time after time, you brightened so many of my routine days
And time after time, I've realized how fortunate I am that my life
included you, Miss Kathleen, and your wonderful family

I looked up to you because you were strong, and caring, and beautiful, Kathryn Hepburnesque....Even if you did not think you were
I really do believe that everyone should have a friend like you,
I am a better person today for knowing you and having you be a part of my (our) life.

I love you and will miss you.

When I moved to Tonawanda to join the 409th from 1988-1993, Kathy helped me with everything, from finding an apartment to shopping for curtains; we became fast friends and spent so much time together. I met her parents, her children, and her husband Gary. Unfortunately, as so often happens, we were transferred to different assignments and lost touch over the years. But I will miss her and everthing she meant to me in the years past. You, her family and friends, have my deepest sympanthy in the loss of such a precious human being. Love, Anne Michel, another one of the Geritol Girls of the 409th PSC.

In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.
