"Three passions have governed my life:
The longings for love, the search for knowledge,
And unbearable pity for the suffering of humankind.
Love brings ecstasy and relieves loneliness.
In the union of love I have seen
In a mystic miniature the prefiguring vision
Of the heavens that saints and poets have imagined.
With equal passion I have sought knowledge.
I have wished to understand the hearts of people.
I have wished to know why the stars shine.
Love and knowledge led upwards to the heavens,
But always pity brought me back to earth;
This has been my life; I found it worth living."
Stevie,
Thanks for being my friend and showing me how to be a better Dad

Our condolensces to the entire Selak family. We have many memories of Steve - working with him at EDS, attending his wedding to Diane, running into him at Future City Competitions, and the many 'break room' conversations we had about our families. Steve will be missed! We will keep you in our prayers.

My heart goes out to all of Steve's family at this time and in the days ahead. Steve's wonderful spirit will live on forever in his wonderful wife and daughters. I think Steve is a great example of one of my favorite saying - "There is no limit to the good you can do if you don't care who gets the credit." He quietly brightened so many lives and will be terribly missed.

Steve worked with fellow EDS volunteers to build a system that would ultimately help my two daughters who have a neuromuscular disease. I remember all the challenges he worked through and ultimately with success, the system was launched. It speaks to Steve, his willingness to give of his time and talents and not to mention his contribution to his team and to people he never knew, afflicted with disease. When I worked in Amherst in the early 90s, I got to know Steve and he was a person who you had to like. He will me sorely missed by those of us close and far. We grieve with you - know that many of us, his co-workers, were touched by him.
