Growing up in South Buffalo, there were but a handful of people who influenced my life. Indirectly, George was one of those people, because he was the father of my best friend. He was a steady, low-key person but one I always knew as a good man. He was what every man deep-down hopes to be: A decent, honest, loving husband (to Frankie) and father (to Jim and Tom). He had a tremendous sense of dry humor which he never failed to exhibit in my presence. He always cracked me up, and I usually earned the wise-cracks he made about me. He was smart, good-looking, sure of his abilities, and carried himself with dignity. Life has taken my best friend and me in different directions over the last forty-plus years. George will always be a part of my life, and I hope can exhibit just a fraction of the class and dignity he carried during his life.
