John - I am so glad I got to see you before you left us, and I will always remember your last words to me as I left the hospital. You were a good person and a strong soldier. No more suffering, pain and grasping for breath. You are at rest now with the Lord.
My sincere condolences go to all of those you left behind to mourn you; those who loved you dearly.
Keia and Bea, if you need me or anything, please call me.

John Cole was my teacher, my mentor, my friend and my hero. Though small in stature, he was a Colossus among men. Not often does a man live among us who exemplifies those characteristics that encourage others towards the goals of fairness, justice and equality.

He was a man to be admired, a man to emulate. Working for him was the most rewarding period of my life. Knowing him was truly a privilege. And while his soul has gone to be with our Lord, his spirit lives on in those he touched.

I will miss him much. But I know that I will see him again one day to thank him for all he did for my life. His legacy will never diminish.
