To the Knezevich and Malloy families,

I just wanted you to know how sorry I was about Steve's passing. I met him, as did my sister Cathy, at the Schofield Residence where my mother Beatrice lived for about 2 years. Steve was usually walking around or sitting by the nurse's station when I visited and would look my way, smile, and say hello. If I went to the refrigerator to get something for my mother, Steve usually noticed and would ask me for ice cream, which I was glad to do after first checking with the nurse, of course. It got to be a routine that if I saw Steve, I would automatically check to see what ice cream flavors were available and offer him one. My mother loved ice cream too, especially strawberry, so I was in and out of that fridge alot. Though I enjoyed our brief chats I didn't know much about Steve's life until I read the obituary in the Buffalo News. What a full life he had, and an impressive list of accomplishments. You must be very proud of him. My heart goes out to you at this sad time.

Helen Malloy & Family,

I am very sorry about the loss of your brother. You were a very devoted sister and I know it was so difficult to see Steve in his later years suffering. My Mom, Beatrice Burns, was also at Schofield and sadly passed in September. I remember seeing you at Schofield for the first time about two years ago and I recognized you immediately as my wonderful 5th grade teacher at Thomas Edison about 35 years ago. You looked the same as I remembered you. Steve was a humourous, bright man and he always commented to me that he knew I knew his sister. You were very special to him and I know how much he appreciated all your visits.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Take care-Catherine Obzud (Burns)
