It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ann Irine McLean on Wednesday, August 31, 2022, at the MacGillivray Guest Home, Sydney, at the age of 78. Born in New Waterford, Ann was the daughter of the late Kathleen and Hugh "Buddy" MacLean. Ann is survived by her brother, Raymond (Gloria) MacLean; nieces, Susan (Philip) Woodill, Daisy McLean, Sharon Gelsinger and Joanne Gelsinger; nephews, David Gelsinger, Brian Gelsinger, Raymond Joseph McLean, Douglas McLean, Tony McLean, Gary McLean, and Steven Mifsud; and sister-in-law, Minnie McLean. She was predeceased by her best friend and companion, David Heatlie; sisters, Theresa Gelsinger and Joan Mifsud; and brothers, Frankie McLean, Bernie MacLean, Russell MacLean, and George MacLean. After working 44 years with Liptons in Bramalea, Ontario, Ann retired back to Cape Breton. Before she took sick, Ann enjoyed spending time with her brother, Raymond and sister in-law, Gloria, shopping and going for lunch. Ann developed close friendships with congregation members from the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Sydney. She enjoyed going for drives with her friends, Debbie and Danny Horton and Judy and Graham, touring Cape Breton. A special thank you to staff of the MacGillivray Guest Home for their kind and compassionate care. While residing at the MacGillivray Guest Home, Ann always had staff and residents around her admiring her artwork. A funeral service will be held in Sydney Memorial Chapel on Friday, September 9, 2022, at 11 a.m. with Mr. Stewart Keizer officiating. Interment will take place at a later date.
