Cuthbert LEWIS Obituary

It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of Cuthbert David Lewis, on March 18, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his wife Bernice Brunton whom he was devoted to for over 48 years, sons Chareif Lewis, Christian Lewis, Sam Brunton-Lewis (Laura), and grandchildren, Chareif Lewis Jr, Leila Lewis, Christian Lewis Jr, Bianca Lewis, Devon Lewis, Danielle Lewis, and Megan Brunton-Lewis, great-grandchildren, brother Clifton Ventour and the many family members and friends in the Caribbean, U.S., Canada, and U.K. he continued to connect with. Cuthbert was born in Grenada but did not fail to see the world. He travelled to the United Kingdom and began his working life as a tailor, then an electrician and eventually became a Master Electrician in Canada. He plied his trade working on movie sets in the UK and when in the Toronto area working on various projects which took him from the financial district buildings to the SkyDome. He picked up many other skills along the way and put them to use throughout his many years. Cuthbert was strong willed, opinionated and loving. Despite his many years he felt young at heart. "Lew" as many people called him, made friends everywhere he went. He always made people feel welcome in his home. He wanted to make sure everyone was taken care of. Friends and family will be received on Friday, April 8, 2022 from 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. at Coutts Funeral Home, 96 St. Andrews Street, Cambridge (519-621-1650). A Funeral Mass will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 8, 2022 at St. Ambrose Parish, 210 South Street, Cambridge. Anyone unable to attend is welcome to view a live broadcast of the service by visiting www.couttsfuneralhome.com at service time. The family would like to express our thanks to the medical staff at Cambridge Memorial Hospital, Hamilton General Hospital, the LHIN and the Personal Support Workers who dedicated their knowledge, skill and genuine kindness in taking care of Cuthbert during his last days. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, The Canadian Cancer Society or Doctors Without Borders.
