Victoria Gulutzan Obituary

GULUTZAN, Victoria - It is with heavy but full hearts we share the passing of the beloved Victoria Gulutzan who passed peacefully at the Pasqua Hospital in Regina, SK, on February 23, 2024. Victoria was born on August 5, 1930, to Dominika (nee Vitsko) and Wasyl Matychuk who both immigrated from the Austro-Hungarian empire (Ukraine) as children. Growing up on a farm near Canora, Vicky went to Dneister school. She married Charlie Gulutzan in 1948 in Canora Orthodox Church. They had one daughter, Gail. Vicky's life was spent on the farm gardening and entertaining with her memorable cooking. Even visitors had special requests of the favourite dishes she cooked. She always made sure everyone was looked after and felt loved. Vicky loved to spend time with those she loved, laugh, play cards, bingo, do search words, listen to Ukrainian music, and watch Ukrainian dance, as well as her favourite programs on tv. In her later years, after her husband passed, Vicky moved to Regina and explored other life dreams including travelling. She even went as far as Australia. Best known as baba (even to those with no relation), mom, or auntie Vicky, she was the true definition of kindness, love, and warmth. Everyone who knew her, adored her and she touched the lives of so many over her life. She will be remembered for her loving, warm nature, generosity, kindness, amazing cooking, and unconditional love. Victoria was predeceased by her parents, Dominika and Wasyl; husband, Charlie Gulutzan; and sisters: Mary (John Rusnak), Helen (George Tiechko), Anne (John Fostey), and Rose (Metro Danyluk); and brothers, John and Nick Matychuk; as well as her cherished great-grandson, Deegan. Vicky will be dearly missed by her loving daughter, Gail (Neil) of White Rock, BC; as well as her three grandchildren who she adored, Clint (Alexis) of Vancouver, Simone of Lloydminster, and Shantelle (Rob) of Sydney, Australia; and her great-grandchildren: Dayton, Katriel, Jaxon, Lagatha, and Ethan. In her memory, a private family graveside memorial will be held. Those wishing to make expressions of sympathy may make donations to a Charity of Donor's Choice, in memory of Victoria Gulutzan. Family and friends unable to attend are invited to sign an online guestbook at www.lesonsfuneralhome.ca. Arrangements were entrusted to LESON'S FUNERAL HOME, Canora, SK.
