With great sadness, the family of Antigio Veneruz, age 79, announces his passing on November 22 at St. Joseph's Hospice with his family by his side. Antigio was born July 11, 1938 in Azzano Decimo, Italy and moved to Fort William at the age of 16. He married the love of his life, Mirialisa Cenedese, November 19, 1960 and recently celebrated 57 years of marriage. An accomplished bricklayer, Antigio's brickwork is evident in many buildings throughout Northwestern Ontario. He retired after a late career change as a custodian for the Catholic school board. Antigio was a member of the Da Vinci and Italian Hall Port Arthur as well as a proud member of the Alpini and Alpini Choir. A long time parishioner of St. Anthony's, he served as an usher for many years. Antigio loved to bowl with his wife in the St. Anthony's mixed league, a natural extension of his love of bocce. He also loved watching hockey, was an excellent ballroom dancer and soccer player, sharing his love of soccer with his children as a coach. He enjoyed playing cards, playing the harmonica, making wine and picking mushrooms, even picking them during his trips in Italy. An avid gardener, he was very proud of his radicchio. Nobody enjoyed ice cream more than Antigio. Of all things he loved to do, fishing was his greatest passion. It made him so happy to share his passion for fishing and hunting with his children and grandchildren, who have many happy memories of fishing and camping together. Antigio loved his family tremendously. Nothing made him happier than to have his family and friends over for a visit. The door was always open and
a glass of wine was waiting. Everyone loved Antigio. He got along with everyone and was a generous, caring person who always greeted everyone with a smile. He was predeceased by his Dad Giuseppe, Mom Albina and brothers-in-law Marcello Piccinin and Alfio Sorgi. He will be greatly missed by his wife Mirialisa, children Daniella (Randy) Baryla, Edoardo (Debbie) and Giuseppe (Stacey) and his five grandchildren, Krysta, Breanna, Matteo, Dean and Talia. Antigio will also be missed by sisters Bruna (Bruno) Santin, Alida Sorgi, Nerina (Dino) Armelin, sister-in-law Luigina Piccinin, brothers-in-law Fernando (Rae) Cenedese, Bruno (Marsha) Cenedese as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 when family and friends will gather in St. Anthony's R.C. Church for the Funeral Mass beginning at 11:00 am, celebrated by Rev. Luigi Filippini. Interment to follow in St. Andrew's Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday evening from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the Chapel of the Sargent & Son Funeral Home, 21 N. Court Street with Vigil Prayers being offered at 7:00 pm. Should friends desire and in lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the T.B.R.H.S.C. Foundation - Northern Cancer Fund, Northern Cardiac Fund or St. Joseph's Foundation-Hospice Unit would be appreciated.

I am so sorry to hear of Antigio's passing. He was a good man and always smiling. I worked with Anitigio at EQJennings School and he was always helpful to me and to the other staff and students. The students all liked him and I could tell that he liked being around them.
The last time I saw Antigio was when I was driving down Beverly Street and Antigio was working outside in his front yard. We chatted for a bit about retirement and he told me that he was a happy man.
From his comments I know that he was loved and that he loved his family.
My sincere condolences,
