BRIAN BAXTER Obituary

BRIAN RODNEY BAXTER November 30, 1967 - November 13, 2024
With heavy hearts, we remember the life of Brian Rodney Baxter, who departed this world on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at the age of 57.

Brian was predeceased by his grandparents Magnus and Adoline Mousseau, John Christopher and Antoinette Baxter (Achneepineskum), his beloved mother Myrtle Baxter (Mousseau) and his niece Georgette Baxter.

Born on November 30, 1967, in Sioux Lookout, Ontario, to George and Myrtle Baxter, Brian grew up alongside siblings George "Bradley", Edward, Marvin (Tara), Mathew (Hannah), Darrick, Jason, and Joan (Ernie). He was deeply loved by his large family, with many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews, whose lives he touched with humour, warmth and kindness.

Brian's early years were spent immersed in nature, fishing, hunting and trapping with his grandparents along the family's trap line on the Albany River into marten falls First Nation. He then moved to Thunder Bay for schooling, where he eventually met his lifelong friend Amanda Collins ("Bunny"). Together, they built a life for their children Cody and Kaijah Collins Baxter filled with love, laughter, and family. and later their family grew with the addition of Dakota Collins-Baxter. Brian cherished his role as a grandfather, welcoming his two grandsons, Wesley and Zayden, with open arms and a heart full of love.

A talented and hardworking individual, Brian graduated at Selkirk high school and pursued studies at Confederation College, leading to a successful career with North West Petroleum, Lakehead Burner, and later in pest control. Despite high work demand Brian's true passion lay in helping others. Whether he was cooking delicious meals for family and friends or lending a helping hand to anyone in need, he always put others first.

Brian's sudden passing has left a void in the hearts of all who knew him. His legacy of kindness, resilience, and generosity will live on in those he touched throughout his life.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, November 29 at the Blake Funeral Chapel. The service will be livestreamed to the Blake Funeral Chapel facebook page. All who knew and loved Brian are welcome to attend. Following the service, a lunch will take place at the Fort William First Nation (FWFN) Mountain Bingo Hall to celebrate his life.

Brian will be remembered as a loving father, lifelong friend, proud grandfather, and a man of great heart and strength. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
