Cecile Gauvin, aged 84 years, passed away on October 23, 2013 in her residence at the P.R. Cook Apartments - St. Joseph's Heritage. Born in Laurier, Manitoba, she moved to Thunder Bay in 1944. Cecile was a long time member of Our Lady of Loretto Church, the French Club and numerous other organizations.Her main focus was her family. She also cared for many boarders and tenants over the years. A hard working woman of many trades, she also loved to make huge meals for everyone, play cards and dance.Cecile will be lovingly remembered by her children: Hal (Diane) Brindley, Marty (Theresa) Brindley, and Joy Shmanka; her step children: Bernice, Brian, Belinda, Barton, Blaine and Barry (deceased); her grandchildren: Jill, Robin, Kate, Ryan, Steven, Rodd, Miranda and Sarra; her many great grandchildren, relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Archie, and her siblings: Jeanne, Angel, John, Joe, Marcel and Peter.Cecile and Archie enjoyed living at Wild Goose Bay on Lake Superior and spending their winters in Florida. She later moved to St. Joseph's Heritage, where she enjoyed the social activities at the Manor House and in the main hall with residents. She greatly appreciated the care and compassion of the support staff. A Funeral Mass will be held at 9:30 a.m. at our Lady of Loretto Church, 290 Grenville Avenue on Wednesday, October 30, 2013, celebrated by Rev. Terry Sawchuk. Her life will be celebrated at the Harbourview Funeral Centre, 499 North Cumberland Street at 11:30 a.m on Wednesday, October 30, 2013.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society or the Elevator Fund at Our Lady of Loretto Church.On-Line Condolences may be offered
