JOHN DAVID Obituary
 David John Layman passed peacefully in his sleep on the evening of August 10th 2023. David was born on August 31, 1945 to William (Bill) and Judith (Judy) Layman in Fort William, Ontario. During his childhood, he was an all-around academic scholar and accomplished swimmer. He attended Lakehead University and studied Theoretical Physics and University of Windsor, ultimately achieving a Master's in Business Administration degree while working for Chrysler. David was an exemplar accountant in the Thunder Bay region working for KPMG in the 1970s when he met Cheryl Gammond and married in 1978. David adopted Cheryl's daughter Roxine (born 1972; death 2013), and had two additional children: Heidi (born 1978) and Hans (born 1982). 
 
 The family moved from the Thunder Bay Region to the Greater Toronto Area in the early 1980s where David worked for CBC and transitioned to the Mining industry and worked for Dome Mines. The family moved to Denver, Colorado in 1989 and David advanced in his career to become CFO of MinVen Gold. During his time in the mining industry, David traveled to all corners of the world to support mining exploration, often bringing his family with him. During retirement, David worked as a customer service representative at Circle K in Highlands Ranch, Colorado and enjoyed conversing with his regulars. He also often drove between Denver and New Brunswick to spend time with family and friends enroute.
 
 David is survived by his brother, Lloyd Layman of Riverview, New Brunswick; two children, Heidi Layman of Golden, Colorado and Hans Layman of Pacifica, California; his four grandchildren, and the love of recent years, Rosemary Hanes of Welland, Ontario.
 
 Private funeral services will be held in Aurora, Colorado and Thunder Bay, Ontario in August and November, respectively.
