John Frank Gernat, Age 76, Passed away Peacefully at Southbridge Roseview
Manor on August 28, 2022. Born December 29,1945. Youngest of 6 Children. He
will Always be Remembered as a Devoted Husband, Father, Son, Grampa, Brother and Loyal Friend. Kind Man with a Gentle Soul who was Loved and Respected by Everyone. Always Willing to Lend a Hand and Helping Others. Touched many Lives with his Big Heart. In 1970, he Married the Love of his Life Betty. Sharing 38 Years of Happiness. A Blessing to us All. Always Caring and Working Hard to Provide for his Family. His Children and Grandchildren were his Pride and Joy and he lit up and had a Constant Smile with Every Visit. In 1966, Started Employment at Great Lakes Forest Products where he also Enjoyed Volunteering on the Recreation Committee and with the City of Thunder Bay Pitch-In Program. After Retirement in 2003, John Worked as a School Crossing Guard. His Hut Always Decorated and Treats Every Holiday. He Loved to Dress up in Costume Volunteering at Winter Carnivals and Enjoyed being Santa Clause every Christmas. Full of Life. A Social Butterfly with a Sea of Endless Friends. Loving Music and Always the First and Last on the Dance Floor. An Outdoorsman. Enjoying Gardening and Puttering in the Yard. A Pack Rat who Loved Yard Sales looking for a Bargain. Loved Camp at Whitefish Resort. Enjoying Fishing, Sitting by a Campfire, Feeding the Birds and Squirrels and Tipping a few Cold Ones. John is Predeceased by his Parents Jan and Suzanna Gernat, Wife Betty, Daughter Lynn, Son John Jr, Brothers Joe, Andy, Vince and Sister Irene. Will be Sadly Missed By Daughter Virginia (Terry), Son Clark (Jennifer). Grandchildren TJ, Chantele, Bailey, Josh, Ilisha, Chris. Great Grandchildren
Peyton, Arya, Jack, Drusus and Zarina. Brother Lawrence (Olga), Sister in Law Diane. Many Nieces and Nephews and Extended Family and Friends. A Heartfelt Thanks to the Staff at TBRHSC and Southbridge Roseview for All your Exceptional Care. Grandpo Loved You All. Special Thanks to Bailey for All your Love and Support. Grampa Loved having you Close Every Day. The Family Expresses Many Thanks to Everyone for All the Love and Prayers during this Difficult Time. Cremation has Taken Place. Burial at Sunset Memorial at 2:00pm on Wednesday, September 14, 2022. A Celebration of Life to Follow at 4:00pm at the Common Room at McVicker Estates. 165 N. Court Street (Back Entrance).

So sorry to hear about John´s passing. Unfortunately we lost touch with him these last few years and didn´t know how ill he had become. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this very sad time.
