Mrs. Rose Marie Beda, age 96 years, formally of 2240 Rankin Street and more recently Hogarth Riverview Manor, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2014. She was born on August 21, 1918 in Barrows, Manitoba. Rose with her husband Jack once ran the restaurant at the Great Lakes Paper Company. She worked at Sears Canada until she was 84 years old. Rose was an expert knitter and crotchetier. All kinds of needle work were her passion. She was a mentor to many sharing her knowledge of the art. Her family enjoyed sweaters, socks, and many Afghans that she knit for them. Rose was a founding member of the Ladies Auxiliary 129, the President in 1950; as well she held many executive positions. She was District 8 Commander of Ladies Auxiliaries for a number of years and travelled the North Shore working with the Auxiliaries. She was a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 129. Rose loved to play Bingo and always had her bag of dabbers ready to go in her car. Rose is survived by: her sons, Robert (Eva), Brian (Michelle) of Vancouver, Thomas (Maggie) and Michael of Thunder Bay, also survived by grandchildren, Allison, John, Michelle, David, Kelly, Leonard, Jason, Justin, Marie and Alexandra and 14 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents John and Mary Kuhty husband Jack, a brother Steve, and sons, Jackie and Andrew Jerome (Jerry). Cremation has taken place. A memorial service and interment will be held at a later date.
