We are deeply saddened to learn of Lorna's passing. We knew her as the gal who could light up a room just by entering it. It has been years since we connected as I worked at Harbour Air with Bill and it was through meeting Lorna at a company BBQ that Mike got a job.We moved away in 1992, yet our memory of Lorna and Bill have remained strong. A beautiful couple in every way. Lorna's generosity and kindness will be forever remembered. Our deepest condolence to Bill and family and friends.

I knew Lorna through our Book Club. She was a very valued member. Her warmth and eagerness for living was always evident, as was her courage in attending our meetings when she was not in good health. We miss her enthusiasm for reading our selections and for books in general. I will always value the earrings that she gave to me when she noted that they would match a sweater I wore to one of our get-togethers.

Memories of Lorna,

I met Lorna about twelve years ago through a neighbor who wanted to start a bridge club. Over the years Lorna became a wonderful friend and I miss her very much.

We played bridge, went to local theatre and movies, had coffee and lunch together. She was the friend I could call on anytime for any reason.

Lorna loved her family, her friends and her garden. She liked to laugh and to shop. She was cheerful and positive even through all her health problems. My condolences to Bill and the family.

Lorna and Bill were very good friends of our long time next door neighbours in North Delta. When we purchased our recteational property in Parksville, our neighbours suggested we meet Lorna and Bill, also living in Parksville. We were told "Bill is super handy and Lorna is lovely". They were correct on both accounts. Bill was instrumental in helping us upgrade our home and when we met Lorna, we immediately felt her warmth and vibrant personality. I didn't know Lorna well but I will always remember her. She was beautiful, inside and out, intelligent, and funny - always laughing easily and laughing often. Bill, I know you are a stand up man and we are happy to know you, but Lorna was also a stand up woman, and her positive energy will not be forgotten. R. I. P. Lorna Katherine Pennings.

I met Lorna when I first arrived in Vancouver from Australia and we became room mates in Kitsilano. We had a wonderful summer together with the beautiful long evenings at the beach. My friend from Sydney, Norma, joined us early in the Fall. A wonderful memory I have was of the first snowfall Norma and I saw with the snow outlining the electricity wires and the trees and Lorna laughing at our wonder and taking us down a hill teaching us how to roll the snow to make our first snowman. Later Margaret joined us and we had many trips and good times before we each went our different ways. We were not able to visit as much as we would have liked in later years but did enough to see what a loving family life Bill and Lorna had made and enjoyed. We cherish our memories of our last visit together last September when Lorna was her usual cheery, charming self even though she knew how ill she was.

Lorna - I don't know where to begin as we go back a long way. I met you in 1961 and we became room mates with Noelle & Norma. We had soooooo much fun and I remember the times we would go up on the roof of the apartment building we lived in and sunbathe !!! We would also hang out on the Beach at Kitsilano as it was in walking distance from our apartment. Our lives took us on different paths and different places but we managed to find each other and have get-togethers whenever possible. I loved you like a Sister and I miss you dearly. You will always have a special place in my heart because you were a very special friend and person XXXX

As I became to know Lorna through several years in our local book club, what struck me was her constant positive outlook.I will remember her smile and warmth, but mostly I will remember her amazing grace.

Lorna was a wonderful Aunt and friend, she always saw the lighter side of life and could make you laugh at any situation. I have so many happy memories at Merritt and Ucluelet, those are the times I will remember when I think of her .

I am incredibly grateful and honoured to have known Lorna and the entire Pennings clan through Karen since waaaaay back in the 9th grade. Lorna was a true spirit of living life and I often recall her laugh and energy and how she and Bill were so kind to my mom after my dad passed and she lived in White Rock, they would always visit and Bill would be inspired to build her something :) I send you all my deepest sympathy and say I am honoured to know Lorna and your entire family Bill. Take care. Your friend, Matt

I knew Lorna on many levels best being a true friend. I played bridge with her each week for a number of years. When she got a good hand she would bid in a radical way in my thinking but by George she made her contract. Then when we reviewed the hand she would have a devilish smile. I loved her so much. Lorna was a wonderful lady and friend. Very tease-able, although I suspect that she didn't enjoy it as much as I did. She had a huge heart and welcomed all to her home; I first met her in Whitehorse and then connected from time to time over the years... I will miss her!
