Brian BROTHERTON Obituary

Passed away peacefully with his family by his side at Guelph General Hospital on Wednesday, February 22, 2023. Brian was 54 years young, the beloved son and middle child of Patricia and Herbert Brotherton of Montreal and later Mississauga, Ontario. He was the brother of Cathy (Gary), Stephen, Greg (Mandi) and Jonathan (Szcezana); uncle of Matthew, Rachel, Jake, Chris, and Emma; and nephew of Louise B. of Montreal and Don B. of Denver. He will be missed by young and old alike, and lived his life as a friend to all, seeing only the good in others and never heard to complain despite his challenges with health and disabilities. A kind and sweet soul, Brian loved nature in all aspects whether enjoying fishing or feeding birds or stray cats. A natural comedian, he enjoyed humour and mastered a style of his own that never failed to create wonderful memories. As a faithful and pious Christian, he was prayerful and grateful for the grace of his faith as well as the enduring love of his precious mother Patricia with whom he shared a special bond. He will be missed for all that he was and all that he taught us. Heartfelt thanks go out to his first home away from home, Maple Lodge Retirement Home of Simcoe, Ontario and to his many caregivers throughout his journey including Lapointe Fisher Nursing Home, Guelph General Hospital as well as deep gratitude for the devotion and attention given to Brian by Father Vernon Boyd of Holy Rosary Church in Guelph. Private Cremation has taken place with interment to follow at Marymount Cemetery, Guelph in the spring.
