Heather STEVENS Obituary
STEVENS, Heather Violet (nee Coulter) May 30, 1966 - May 2, 2019 Heather Stevens had a spirit and soul that exuded compassion for all and enthusiasm for life. It is with deep sadness to announce her sudden passing. She grew up in Port Elgin, Ontario and attended University of Guelph where she received her Bachelor Degree of Applied Science in 1991 and her Masters of Science in 1998. She was active in promoting the athletics department at the University and especially enjoyed her involvement with the cheerleading teams. While at University, she also was a strong promoter and participant in the College of Family and consumer studies where she mentored and advised students. Heather started her career working in the financial services business that included time with Canada Trust at the corporate headquarters. She went on to become a teacher at George Brown's main campus in downtown Toronto. She was passionate about teaching. Heather was an exuberant and bubbly person who was engaged in life. She especially enjoyed summers at family cottages on Lake Huron with her family. Being outdoors hiking or on the water, gave her joy. She also enjoyed a good game of tennis. The joys of her life were her children, David and Lauren and her trusted companion, Leah-her golden retriever. She will be greatly missed. Heather is survived by her children, David and Lauren Stevens; her sisters Cynthia Coulter, Valerie Coulter and Christine Coulter-Whittaker. She is also survived by her ex-husband and father to David and Lauren, Phillip Stevens. Heather is predeceased by her father William John Coulter and her mother Arlene Ethel Coulter. Heather will be fondly remembered by her many family members and friends. Arrangements have been entrusted to Grand River Cremation Services. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2019 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Cutten Fields 190 College Avenue East, Guelph, Ontario. The family requests donations be made to the Homewood Health Centre and to the Guelph chapter, Canadian Mental Health Association.
