Robert John LONGSTREET

LONGSTREET, Robert John Passed away at the Guelph General Hospital on Friday, July 12, 2019. Bob was the beloved husband of Shirley (nee: VanAlstine) for almost 51 years and the loving father of Jenny and Tanya. He was the cherished grandfather of Hannah, Riley, Ben and Erin. Bob was the son of the late Wallace and Josephine Longstreet and will be lovingly remembered by his brother and sisters Faye, Anne, John, Sylvia and Elaine, and also by his brothers and sisters in-law, nieces, nephews and many friends. Next to his family, music was the love of his life. A master musician, Bob began playing the banjo at the age of 16 beginning a lifelong love of music. His family will receive friends at the Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home , Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon St., Guelph on Monday, July 15, 2019 from 4 - 7 p.m. and again on Tuesday, July 16, 2019 from 12:00 noon. A service to commemorate Bob's life will follow in the funeral home chapel at 1:00 p.m. with interment at Erin Union Cemetery after a short reception. If so desired, memorial donations to the Kidney Foundation or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by his family.
