Nancy CIZEK Obituary

CIZEK, Nancy Born in Glasgow, Scotland Died October 5, 2019, at her home in Burlington. Nancy was a loving and devoted daughter, wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, and great grandmother. A curious and passionate bibliophile who was conversant on almost any subject, Nancy often quoted poets, spiritual leaders, and philosophers in everyday discussions. She honed her considerable intelligence as a master bridge player, and she was an art aficionado with a striking flair for fashion and design. As a spiritual seeker, Nancy explored the religious traditions of both East and West, but it was Jesus whom she loved most. Through study, meditation, and prayer, she cultivated wisdom, astute insight, deep compassion, and gentleness, and she was grieved by any act of inhumanity. Nancy exuded lovingkindness toward all whom she met and routinely charmed others with wit and vivacity. A private gathering and cremation have taken place in accordance with Nancy's wishes. In lieu of condolences or donations, please consider the following passages of which this tender soul was particularly fond: ""Whatever mitigates the woes or increases the happiness of others--this is my criteria of goodness. And whatever injures society at large, or any individual in it--this is my measure of iniquity."" - Robert Burns ""May the World be peaceful. May the wicked become gentle. May all creatures think of mutual welfare. May their minds be occupied with what is spiritual and abiding. May our hearts be immersed in selfless love for the Lord."" - Swami Sarvagatananda ""Love one another as I have loved you."" - Jesus Christ
