William Fleming Obituary

May 25, 1947 Kirkland Lake, ON - September 20, 2022 Renfrew, ON

Bill passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, at the Ottawa Hospital, after a courageous and hard-fought battle against cancer. Predeceased by his dad, Bill, and his mom, Doris, Bill is survived by his soulmate Diane (nee Matte), his children Steve (Tiffany), Bill (Karen) and Alyson (Kevin) and his sister, Alice. He was the proud Grandpa of Caitlyn, Samantha, William, Colby and Autumn. Bill will be remembered by long-time buddies from his youth in Mattawa and cherished friends made along the way. Bill was known for his quick wit, his generosity, his willingness to offer a helping hand, his wide-ranging interests and breadth of knowledge. The outdoors ran through his blood. He loved fishing in local lakes, taking canoe trips in Algonquin park, and hunting a variety of game. Despite his illness, he was proudly successful in his last deer hunt. Bill was a talented craftsman, oft times assisted by his equally talented wife Diane who provided finishing touches to his projects which included canoe building, forging, knife making and leather work replicating items that would have been used by frontiersmen of bygone days. His life will be celebrated at a private family gathering. In memory of Bill, donations can be made online to the Renfrew Victoria Hospital where he received excellent care and compassion. Bill will be remembered and live in our hearts forever. Arrangements entrusted to Pinnacle Cremation Service.
