Olive Schell Obituary
August 28, 1940 - May 7, 2023
The music was playing, and the angels were singing as Olive peacefully passed in the early hours of May 7th, 2023.
Born August 28, 1940, in Huntsville, Ontario, Olive was the daughter of the late Lorne and Grace Wright. Olive is survived by her husband Tim of 61 years, sons Blaine (Sherry) of Waterford, Ontario, and Ed (Shirley) of Hollywood, Florida and stepdaughter Joanne Rutledge of Orillia, Ontario.
Loving grandmother and great grandmother to Caitlyn, Kyle, Jessica, Samantha, Doug, Jesse, Lisa, and their children.
Also survived by brothers Robert Wright (Erla), John Wright (Marilyn), Howard Wright (Mary), sister Lorna Naismith, and sister-in-law Faye Cowan (Allen deceased).
Olive loved people and they loved her right back! Olive dedicated her life to family and to the service of others. While never looking for accolades she was recognized by many organizations. Most notably, she was named Gravenhurst Citizen of the Year, received the 60-year service jewel from the Rebekah Lodge, the Paul Harris Award from Rotary International, the Queen's Jubilee Medal awarded by the Government of Canada, and the Ontario Kidney Foundation Volunteer of the year.
A special thank you to cousin and dear friend Jeanette Cook who visited Olive each week and whose love, support and comfort during the final 24 hours will never be forgotten; niece Tammy McKeown for her guidance and support, and to the wonderful team at Muskoka Shores whose compassion love and care will always be remembered and appreciated.
A memorial visitation will be held at Cavill Funeral Home on Thursday, May 25, 2023, from 10:00 am - 11:30 am, followed by a Rebekah Lodge Service at 11:30 am, and a memorial service beginning at 12:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or the charity of choice would be appreciated and can be arranged online, or through Cavill Funeral Home.
