PASTIRIK, George F. Passed away at the Woolcott Wing of the Welland Hospital on Thursday, August 29, 2019 in his 92nd year. Beloved husband of Margaret for 66 years. Loving father of David (Yole), George (Pam) and Steve (Mary Ann). Proud Grandpa of Andrea Sperling (Steve), Gregory, Robert, Kimberly, Jillian, Justine and Jenna. Survived by his sister Helen Sivak, sister-in-law Margaret Pastirik and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Paul and Elizabeth, sister Mary and brothers Michael, Paul and John. George was born in Cecehov, Slovakia and worked at Atlas Steels for 35 years, retiring in 1993. Thanks to Dr. D. Goswami and his staff for their care and support over the years, and the Welland Hospital Emergency Department, 6th Floor and the Woolcott Wing for their care and kindness. A special thanks to Lisa for her nursing and compassion. The family will receive friends at: J.J. Patterson & Sons Funeral Residence 19 Young Street, Welland, Sunday from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Vigil will be held at 2:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday at St. Andrew the Apostle Church at 11:00 a.m. Rite of Committal will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
