Vera Grant Obituary

Vera Gladys Grant passed away peacefully at home.

During the war, she met her loving husband, Leonard Joseph Grant, in Bournemouth, England, in the year 1941, who served in the Canadian Military in England.

They married in Potters Bar, Middlesex, England, then she immigrated to Canada in 1946 on a ship named Aquitania, among approximately 1,100 war brides, settling in Canada.

She is survived by her eight loving children and their spouses, Robert Grant, Catherine and Don Wiseman, Fran and Ron Johnson, David and Barbara Grant, Peter and Sherry Grant, Mark and Victoria Grant, Laura Grant and Ted and Adriana Grant; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will all miss her.

Predeceased by her loving husband Leonard Joseph Grant and daughter-in-law Bonnie Grant; wife of Robert Grant.

Everyone loved her. We will never forget her energy, quick wit, persistence and grace. She loved to bake, garden, and walk the trails in North Vancouver, and her favourite card game was Bridge. She also worked for 14 years with North Shore Home Support, volunteered for 16 years in Palliative Care at Lions Gate Hospital, and 25 years with Red Cross Support in North Vancouver.

She will be dearly missed.

A celebration of life is being held on Saturday, September 17, 2022, at 231 21st Street East, North Vancouver, BC, V7L 3B7.

I volunteer at Capilano Community Services Society since January 1997 where I met Vera and her daughter Fran. Vera was always so sweet. One day she was late arriving for her shift. We all freaked out when she was late. We started calling 2 of her children. Vera did eventually show up. From 2015 to sometime in 2022 I lived across the street from her when she lived at Summerhill. I considered Vera to be a surrogate grandmother to me, since all my grandparents have all passed away. I had 2 British Grandparents who lived into their 90's

My condolences to the Grant family.
When I was young I had the honour of Mrs Grant entering my life. Although, the time was brief, the positive impact that she made is with me always.
Thank you Mrs Grant.
With love and appreciation Ty Tedesco.

First my condolences to the Family for your loss.
Mrs Grant, as we will always remember her, came into my life sometime around 1975-1977 to look after my terminally ill son, Tyler, so I could return to work. Mrs Grant was life changing for myself, my husband Jim but mostly for Tyler. He loved her.
Mrs Grant would play silly games with Tyler for hours on end.
One Christmas Eve Mrs Grant arranged for one of her sons to arrive at our home dressed as Santa. To see the faces of Tyler and his cousin was very special having both just announced they didn't believe in Santa.
Thank you Mrs Grant for everything you did for us, especially Tyler. We will never forget you.
Barb, Jim (deceased) and miraculously Tyler Tedesco.
