Friedrich Krell Obituary

Krell, Friedrich "Fritz": Apr 21, 1929 - Jan 25, 2020 The family of Friedrich Krell announce his peaceful passing at his home in London, Ontario, on Saturday, January 25, 2020, in his 91st year. As a young man, Fritz was an avid skier, traversing the Alps in his native Austria. Moving to Germany as a teenager, he met his future wife, Olga Krell, in the town of Heimenkirch in Bavaria. The couple had two children, Hannelore Robinson (Vancouver) and Fritz Krell (London, On). Seeking new opportunities in Canada, the young family emigrated in 1957. They built a life and home in Toronto, Ontario, making many friends and staying connected to the German Canadian community. Fritz was a talented machinist, working as a tool and die maker, eventually opening his own shop. Fritz was also a superb bowler, a big Toronto Maple Leafs Fan and a much sought-after Saturday night dance partner. Later in life, Fritz and Olga moved to Penticton, BC, then to West Kelowna, where they settled into retired life. When walking by their home in Westlake, neighbours would admire Fritz's beautifully pruned roses and garden full of organic vegetables. He was an impressive baker and cook (having learned from the best, his wife Olga). At every coffee gathering, you could expect at least three homemade cakes to be placed on the table. Fritz was loved dearly by his children Hannelore (Peter), Fritz (Carol), his grandchildren Pierre (Anita), Rachel, and Richard, and his great-grandchildren Eric and Tyson. A celebration of life will be held in May in Kelowna.
