JACKSON, Ronald 1929 - 2022 Ron led a very full, active, and interesting life! He had several careers, which included being a merchant marine, lighthouse weather station attendant, air traffic controller (YVR), marine traffic controller, 911 operator, and later in his career was the first volunteer Fire Chief in Carrs Landing. Ron was a 70-year member of the Hamm radio community, his call sign was VE7JQ. He spent most of his adult life using Morse code to communicate with people all over the world. Ron was very active and enjoyed playing men's hockey into his late 70's. Tennis, jogging and walking 5 miles a day were also part of his routine. Ron won the Province Bridge competition in the 1970's, and he continued playing bridge with several groups until late in his life. Nothing made him happier than beating his family at cribbage, which he continued to play up until a month ago. He was incredibly gifted, bright, and athletic! Ron is predeceased by his wife, Marina; 2nd wife, Ann, and best friend, Jean. He is survived by daughter, Cheryl Mauro (Dan), son, Steve (Joanne); grandchildren, Joe (Lindsey), Carli (Tony), Jake (Jamie), Molly (Kyle), and great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Brooke, and Oliver; and sister, Vera Rose Pel.
