OLSON - Mrs. Vivian Olson, beloved wife of the late Joseph Olson, of Preeceville, passed away on Monday, January 22, 2024. She was 94 years of age. Vivian Signe Constance (Clarentzius) Olson was born on August 2,1929 to Carl and Vera (Ohrn) Clarentzius at her Grandpa and Grandma Ohrn's home on Section 10-37-06W2. This is situated west of Endeavour in the Veteran's District. Vivian attended Veteran's school for a time and then moved to Regina where she lived with her Grandparents and completed her grade 8 education. She then moved back to the Veteran's area where she worked for the Lundin family and then to Endeavour where she worked at Smith's Cafe. It was during this time she met the love of her life, Joseph Olson. They were married on July 28, 1948 in St. John's Lutheran Church in Preeceville. They were blessed with 5 children, 15 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren in their nearly 61 years of marriage. They began their life together on their little farm NE06-37-06W2. She worked side by side with Joe to provide for the family. Her gardens were huge and each year there were quarts and quarts of vegetables, fruit and meat canned and stored away. She spent many hours milking cows, feeding pigs and chickens and tending to the labors of farm life and raising a family. She often carried on alone when Joe was working away from home. She loved to bake and cook and provided mountains of delicious food for her family and anyone else that appeared at her table. Any spare time was taken up with knitting, crocheting, quilting and enjoying family and friends! When her family was mostly grown, she got her driver's license and this provided for many new opportunities. She then enjoyed working for Home Care for a time and gained many new friends during that time. In 1989 they sold the farm and they became some of the first residents of the Assiniboine Valley Manor in Preeceville. She quickly adapted to "town life" and all the social opportunities and activities it presented. After Joe passed away in 2009, she remained there until it became apparent that she needed more care and she moved to Crozier Place in April 2015. In April 2016 she spent a few months in Kamsack and in June of 2016 she returned to the Long Term Care Home in Preeceville where she happily resided until her peaceful passing in the early hours of January 22, 2024. Throughout all her years, her love for God and the gift of his Son has kept and guided her every day. She was very active in her community and church both at Rockford and Preeceville and enjoyed the interactions they provided. She was predeceased by her parents, Carl and Vera; stepfather, Isaac Stener; husband, Joseph, a brother at birth; sister, Doreen and Alec Steciuk, sister, Norma and Erich Mintzler; brother, Lee Reagan; Joe's parents, John and Clara Olson; his sister Clarice and Earl Fairburn; nephews, Ken Olson and Ronald Fairburn, and special friend, Ray Beckon.
